Order of the Sinking Star Steam Deck Support

Order of the Sinking Star is Steam Deck Verified in Valve's compatibility report checked October 13, 2026. The report declares functional default controls, matching button glyphs, readable interface text and suitable default performance. That classification is not a locked-60 benchmark: SteamDeckHQ reports 60 FPS in most areas at the default lowest settings, with overworld and mirror stutters. Install the full game through your Steam library and start with the default setup. Steam Cloud is listed for continuing between Steam devices; let the newest device finish syncing before opening the game on the other one.

What the Verified result covers

Valve's title-specific result, checked October 13. These are compatibility declarations, not measurements performed by this website.

CheckDeclared resultHow to read it
Default controller configurationFully functionalThe normal layout is the supported starting point; this does not describe every remapped layout.
Controller promptsGlyphs match the Deck deviceOn-screen button prompts are declared appropriate for the Deck controls.
Interface textLegibleValve accepts the default interface readability. The report supplies no numerical font-size measurement.
Default configurationPerforms suitablyA compatibility pass, not a promise of 60 FPS in every scene or a particular battery duration.

The returned Deck category is Verified. The report has separate fields for other SteamOS devices, so its Deck badge should not be extended to every Linux PC. The observation date above is when this page checked the public report; the API does not identify the original test date or an exact game build.

The full-game settings SteamDeckHQ recommends

Noah Kupetsky's review recommends leaving the game at its default lowest settings. He reports 60 FPS in most areas, while describing higher power use in the overworld and occasional stutter near mirror teleports. His experience supports a starting setup, not a constant frame rate throughout the game.

The review's published configuration and reported operating ranges. Model, brightness, exact patch and test duration are not specified in the supplied account.

Setting or observationSteamDeckHQ account
Frame-rate limit / refresh rate60 FPS / 60 Hz
TDP limitNo limit set
GPU clockManual clock setting disabled
Scaling filterLinear
Half Rate ShadingOff
Proton selectionNo forced compatibility tool
In-game configurationNo changes; game defaults to the lowest settings
Reported power / temperature12–15 W / 60–65 °C
Reported battery duration3–3.5 hours; this review's range, not a guarantee for your device

When assessing portable play, compare a normal puzzle room with the overworld and a mirror interaction. The review identifies these as differing conditions. It does not provide a measured render resolution, lowest-FPS figure or controlled before-and-after patch test. This website has not independently benchmarked the settings or battery estimate.

Install the Steam release and start with its default setup

  • Use the full game's entry in your Steam library on Deck, install the available release, and let its download and updates finish before launching.
  • Start with Steam's default controller configuration and compatibility selection. Those are the conditions behind the declared usability result, and the cited Deck review used no forced compatibility tool.
  • Keep the game's updates current. The October 9 patch changed its SDK requirement to SteamClient021 or Proton v9 and later. If you previously forced an older Proton release, that override needs checking against this requirement.
  • If you encounter E_INVALIDARG under Proton, note that the October 12 part 2 patch tentatively addresses that exact crash. Update, repeat the failing action, and use the specific-fix and support instructions if it still occurs.

Steam's official product data declares a Windows release, with native Linux marked false. Valve explains that Proton runs Windows games on SteamOS. A Verified Deck result therefore does not require a separate native Linux build, nor does it establish that the same setup works on every desktop Linux configuration.

Continue between Deck and PC using the same Steam account

Steam Cloud is listed for the full game. Valve's general service behavior is to upload the configured save files after a session and download them before the next launch on another device. That supports Steam-device synchronization; it does not convert a save for PS5 or Switch 2.

  1. Keep both devices on the same account

Ensure Steam Cloud is enabled for the game on the source and destination. Valve allows it to be disabled globally or per game.

  2. Finish on the device holding the newest progress

Exit the game and allow its cloud synchronization to complete while connected. Do this before launching on the other Steam device; recent offline play cannot be assumed to have uploaded yet.

  3. Check the destination before continuing

Launch on the other device and confirm the loaded campaign is the one you expected. If it is older or Steam reports a sync conflict, preserve the device with the latest progress and investigate before overwriting files or creating competing progress.

Completion signal: The destination loads the expected campaign progress; a mismatch is a reason to stop and check synchronization, not proof that progress is permanently lost.

For account, backup and recovery limits, use the cloud and cross-save reference. These steps describe the Steam service and listed game feature, not a transfer test performed by this site. Moving historical demo progress into the full game is a separate edition question.
