Order of the Sinking Star Characters

Order of the Sinking Star gives different characters different ways to manipulate a puzzle. In PlayStation's pre-release hands-on report, Valens pushes, Tif pulls and Isidore swaps places with objects in line of sight; later heroes add charm, protection and transmutation. The Queen, trader, sailor and beam-powered explorer have different roles again. The table below keeps demo observations separate from launch-guide details, including conflicting thief and wizard spellings; it is not a claimed exhaustive roster.

Coverage
Playable roles and ability descriptions in the July 21 demo report and October 8 beginner guide.
Names
Tif/Piff and Isidore/Isador differ between sources; a release-build rename or alias is not established.
Spoilers
Later character classes and the advertised crossing of world mechanics; no puzzle solutions or endings.

The northern party's different powers

Class abilities documented by PlayStation's demo report and Into Indie Games' launch guide. Personal names follow the demo report where available.

Character or classWhat the ability doesRestriction or source boundary
Valens — warriorPushes obstructing blocks and crystals. The launch guide also describes moving lines of objects, other heroes and monsters. The long-line description is from the launch guide; it is not a claim that every kind of obstacle is pushable.
Tif — thiefPulls blocks and crystals rather than pushing them. The launch guide describes taking the object behind her.Position behind the thief matters to that pulling description; the launch guide calls her Piff.
Isidore — wizardSwaps places with an object in his line of sight. The swap depends on the target's visibility. The launch guide calls him Isador and describes the exchange when he attempts to move a target.
BardCharms nearby targets with an area effect. The launch guide describes a two-tile radius, and the Heroes and Mirrors instructions use her aura to move crystals. That range comes from the launch guide; the demo report confirms area charm without specifying a tile radius.
DruidTransmutes objects. The launch guide describes crystallizing living things, including companions; original Heroes and Mirrors instructions also turn plants into crystals and back. The plant/crystal reversal is supported by those specific puzzle instructions. Do not assume that every transformed creature has the same reversal behavior.
Priestess / clericThe demo report describes attack immunity and protection for adjacent characters; the launch guide describes invincibility for companions next to her.The protection described is adjacent. Neither source establishes a map-wide protective effect.

Why some guides use different names

Bard, druid and priestess/cleric are the supported class labels here. Extra personal names, ages and family relationships are not established by these ability sources. The voice-actor reference separately lists the roles used in the publisher's cast announcement.

The Queen and the other world leads

Different playable roles and one story companion. Demo observations do not establish every later ability.

RoleSupported descriptionImportant limit
The QueenThe first controllable character in PlayStation's demo, introduced through moving blocking objects before reaching the overworld. That report describes an introductory ability, not her complete later toolkit.
Trader / merchantUses mirrors to swap with a projected reflection while navigating islands. The launch guide also describes reflecting other objects. The character's personal name is not established in these sources; mirrors are part of the puzzle system.
SailorThe launch guide describes moving stones across water to make passages and interacting with lily pads and currents. The southern area was unavailable in the July PlayStation demo. These practical descriptions come from the later launch guide.
Caver / explorerUses gems and colored beams to gain different powers in a cave-like environment. The launch guide says he normally cannot push and needs spare space to turn.
Talking boatAn official story companion travelling with the sailor in the launch guide. The official hero description includes the boat, but these sources do not establish it as a separately selectable playable character.

The caver's powers depend on the beam

Standing inside a colored beam grants the caver the corresponding power in Into Indie Games' guide. Overlapping beams can grant several powers together. The guide also says his bulky vest requires an extra empty space for turning, so a useful power does not remove every movement constraint.

Effects reported by the October 8 beginner guide; not an independently tested table for every build.

BeamReported effectPractical boundary
YellowBreak objects. The source does not provide a complete list of breakable object types.
RedDisable red energy gates. The stated effect is specific to red gates.
GreenWalk through walls. This is a beam-granted movement effect.
OrangeTeleport over a tile, including across walls or obstacles. This describes a skip over a tile, not unrestricted destination selection.
CyanPush objects. The guide explicitly says the caver cannot normally push.
VioletMove straight to the end of the beam. The guide warns that an empty destination can be dangerous.

When abilities begin to work across worlds

The official premise is that characters eventually meet and their puzzle systems combine. PlayStation's demo report gives a concrete example: switching between the merchant and wizard across realms to solve a problem they could not solve alone.

These sources support the interaction, but they do not give a universal unlock time or a complete prerequisite checklist. For this character lookup, the useful distinction is between a role's initial rules and the later puzzles that combine them. No ending condition is implied by the example.
