An independent guide
Order of the Sinking Star Mac Compatibility
The current Steam game does not have a native macOS edition: App 499170 lists Windows support and mac:false. You can instead use the officially announced GeForce NOW route on a supported Mac in an eligible service region, with the Steam game entitlement and a suitable internet connection. That runs the PC game in the cloud. Community reports also describe CrossOver and GameHub on Apple Silicon, but their particular configurations and save-sync results do not establish general Mac support.

The Steam game and soundtrack have different platform flags
Valve's product data checked October 13, 2026. These are native product-platform fields.

| Product | App ID | Platform record | What it lets you conclude |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order of the Sinking Star | 499170 | Windows: true; macOS: false; Linux: false | The current Steam game is a Windows release, not a native Mac download. |
| Order of the Sinking Star Soundtrack | 5217050 | Windows, macOS and Linux: true; product type music | The soundtrack's Mac support belongs to the music product. It does not make the game a Mac executable. |
The game's published local PC requirements specify Windows 10 or later, a 64-bit system and DirectX 12. They should not be presented as Mac hardware requirements. The PC requirements reference covers that Windows installation.
This is the current product record, not a prediction about future ports. A community request for a Mac release is not an official release announcement.

GeForce NOW is the confirmed supported access route
The publisher's October 8 full-release announcement explicitly says Order of the Sinking Star is available through NVIDIA GeForce NOW. NVIDIA supplies a Mac client and browser access. This gives a supported way to access the PC game without claiming a native macOS port.
You need the supported game-store entitlement as well as a GeForce NOW account. The service membership does not include this paid game's purchase. Check the title's availability with your regional provider before buying solely for cloud play.
NVIDIA's Mac-client and connection requirements checked October 13, 2026; streaming requirements, not measured game performance.
Scroll across to read every column.
| Requirement | Published baseline |
|---|---|
| Mac app | macOS 10.15 or later; a Mac introduced in 2009 or later. |
| 720p stream | At least 15 Mbps for up to 60 FPS streaming. |
| 1080p stream | At least 25 Mbps for 60 FPS streaming. |
| Connection | Less than 80 ms latency to an NVIDIA data center; wired Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi recommended. |
Those stream specifications do not promise that this game will render at a particular frame rate. Higher streaming modes have additional device and membership requirements. A Mac meeting the client baseline still needs access to the service and its local game catalogue.

Connect the Steam copy to the Mac client
Choose the supported Mac entry
Use NVIDIA's official GeForce NOW download page for the Mac client, or its supported browser entry. Check the client and regional service requirements above before committing to a game purchase.
Use the Steam game account
Use the account that owns the full game, App 499170. The soundtrack or an old demo is a different product and does not replace that entitlement.
Connect Steam if you want library sync
NVIDIA's documented route is GeForce NOW → Settings → Connections → Connect for Steam. Complete the Steam sign-in in the opened browser. Library sync requires a public Steam profile, public game details and visible playtime; decide whether you want those details public before using sync.
Completion signal: After connecting, eligible owned games appear in GeForce NOW's My Library.
Locate the full game and start its cloud session
Select Order of the Sinking Star's Steam entry in the service. NVIDIA's sync guide says to use Resync after buying or redeeming a new game. If the title is unavailable with your regional provider, the global announcement does not override that restriction.
Completion signal: An available entitled title can be launched through the service; no macOS game executable is being installed locally.
These are documented service entry and account-linking steps, rather than a claim that this site launched a session on your Mac. Keep cloud streaming separate from Steam Cloud and cross-save: the ability to stream a title does not promise a console save import.

| Source and scope | Reported result | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Launch-period Reddit thread; Artistic_Tackle_9794 | A basic M4 Mac mini with 16 GB RAM reportedly ran the released game through CrossOver 26.3, a Windows 10 Steam bottle, Auto graphics and MSync. | One user's configuration; no measured frame rate. Their earlier demo reportedly showed a black screen with audio. |
| Same Reddit thread; partnano and cpp_is_king | GameHub users reported successful play; one M3 user also reported an unresponsive Xbox One controller. | The thread also contains a later cloud-sync failure report. Play success does not verify every input or save feature. |
| June Steam Mac discussion | An early CrossOver success claim appears alongside M1 and M4 reports of freezes or a black screen with audio. | Historical demo-period discussion; it should not override current full-game reports or establish current compatibility. |
The GameHub thread initially linked a SteamUtils011 fix, but its author later said the game no longer needed that fix after an update. This page therefore does not prescribe the old script as a current required step or invent a matching build number.
Use these reports to recognize that compatibility layers are a separate, community route. They do not establish an Intel Mac configuration, reliable save synchronization on every setup or a supported offline Mac edition. For a supported Mac access decision, start with GeForce NOW's documented requirements above.
