Order of the Sinking Star Soundtrack & Trailer Music

The official Order of the Sinking Star Soundtrack is a separate Steam digital album, composed and produced by Peter Due and Martin Stig Andersen. Steam lists 20 tracks whose displayed durations total 78:18; the soundtrack contains audio files, not the game. Trailer music is a separate lookup: in his August 18 release-date discussion, Jonathan Blow identifies Heinrich Biber's Presentation, performed by Dmitry Sinkovsky. That attribution applies to the trailer he discusses, rather than every promotional video or the OST track list.

The official digital release

The official Steam soundtrack is product 5217050. Its US app data lists an October 8, 2026 release and classifies it as music. It is distinct from the Windows game, product 499170.

Steam sells it separately and also lists a game-plus-soundtrack bundle. The price and edition guide covers purchase costs; the distinctions below explain what the music products contain.

Who composed the music and designed the sound?

Album-level credits from Steam and the audio team's own roles in the official September 9 making-of interview. The sources do not assign a separate composer to every album track.

NameDocumented role
Peter DueOST composition and production; the orchestral composer in the official team interview.
Martin Stig AndersenOST composition and production; music design and ambient composition in the team interview.
Hans Christian KockLead sound designer in the team interview. This is a sound-design credit, distinct from the album's composer credits.

Kock is the spelling used in his official self-introduction. The orchestral and ambient roles describe the team's work; they should not be used to guess which person wrote an individual track when the album gives only shared credits.

Soundtrack-only and game-plus-OST are different products

Soundtrack-only — Steam product 5217050
Contains audio files and explicitly does not include the base game.
Game + Official Soundtrack — Steam bundle 88982
Lists two items: Order of the Sinking Star and its soundtrack. This is the explicitly identified bundle containing both.
A standard game or console purchase
Do not assume it includes a separate downloadable OST. The Steam bundle is not a promise about every PS5 or Switch 2 edition.

A trailer's licensed performance is also distinct from the game's soundtrack album. None of the 20 listed titles names the Biber piece below, so the album listing does not promise that trailer recording. The published product information used here does not establish a CD or vinyl edition.

The music discussed for the August 18 release-date trailer

Blow's August 18 release-date stream identifies Heinrich Biber and performer Dmitry Sinkovsky while explaining his trailer-music choice. The surviving excerpt from 1:43 preserves that explanation. He later names the piece as the Presentation; the visible album title gives No. 4, The Presentation of the Infant Jesus in the Temple, from Biber's Mystery Sonatas.

The official release-date article embeds the August 18 Release Date Announcement. The music attribution comes from Blow's discussion of that release, rather than identifying a tune by ear. The excerpt was uploaded by Jonathan Blow highlights on August 31 and links his original Twitch stream.

Blow explicitly says the recording displayed during his explanation is not the exact one used in the trailer. The piece and named performer are therefore usable credits, while a particular album release, catalogue number or recording link should not be guessed from the displayed cover. The sources used here do not establish the music in the later voice-cast, overview or launch trailers.

Why in-game music is not a fixed album loop

In the official making-of interview, Due describes dividing music into layers and short segments for the game's dynamic system. He explains that its intensity can reduce while a player remains inactive thinking about a puzzle. Andersen likewise describes moving from a stronger introduction toward a less linear musical texture.

Those are the audio team's descriptions of the implementation. They explain why the album's fixed 78:18 listing is not a measurement of every possible in-game musical combination or how long music will play during a session.
